Yes! We welcome beginners. Book a free trial week via the contact form above and meet us in the gym reception.
Our timetable includes classes that cater to all levels from absolute first-timers to experienced competitors so you’ll always find a session that suits your experience.
Adults/Juveniles Fundamentals classes cover the essentials step by step which we encourage people to attend if they’re new to Jiu Jitsu.
While Adults classes, Rolling and Open Mats, will introduce you to a broad range of techniques they still accommodate to beginners. Everybody progresses at different rates and we do our best to ensure that everybody is picking up the techniques and concepts.
Clean athletic top and shorts and/or leggings (no zips or pockets if possible). Bring jandals/slides for off-mat.
Optional but recommended, especially once you start sparring regularly.
If you’re new to the gym 10 minutes before class to meet the coach, sign the waiver, and get a quick intro.
Totally. While there’s always some risk in any contact sport, injuries in Jiu Jitsu are uncommon when you train smart. We scale the training to your experience level and keep rounds controlled. Adults can choose their level of participation.
The golden rule is simple: tap early, tap often, and let your partner or coach know if anything feels off.
For kids, classes are even more structured and closely supervised so they can learn in a safe, positive environment. The focus for juniors is on fun, movement, and confidence-building, not hard sparring.
Train clean and preferably showered before class, clipped nails, no jewellery, bring slides for off-mat. Please don’t train with any skin infections or if you’re unwell.
The gym is cleaned well daily and keeping high hygiene standards is super important to us!
Sessions are purposeful and welcoming. classes typically consist of drilling, lighter positional rounds and games.
Open mats and rolling after class will provide you with a bit more freedom to role at your prefered pace.
We want you to leave keen to come back.

Kids can start from 4 years old in our Junior Kids program
We follow a semi-structured curriculum. While there’s no traditional gi belt system, progression is recognised through a belt system judged by experience, skill, and team commitment both on and off the mats.
No, you don’t have to make every class. Train as often as your schedule allows. Many beginners start with 2–3 sessions a week, which is plenty to see progress without burning out. Consistency matters more than volume, so come when you can and build up gradually.
Even though Jiu Jitsu is an individual sport we heavily promote a team culture.
For kids, we encourage regular attendance so they stay engaged and build confidence, but missing the odd class is no problem.
